Since this is my first post here, I thought I would share what I’ve spent my entire life collecting. This is a culmination of 25 years worth of work. This is what I love.
I originally posted this on Destructoid.com and thought this was good enough to post again here. Just to start things off right.
Right now I live in Center City, Philadelphia in a small apartment and have my most current video games here with me. But back home in Jersey is where I hoard everything in my room and my basement. So come take my hand and lets travel between those places, shall we?
First up, my apartment in Philadelphia. Small and quaint, but what matters to me is I have enough room to play my games and wave my hand wildly when playing the Wii.
As you can see, I’ve got the essentials hooked up for my gaming purposes, the 360, PS3, Wii, and you’ve got to have the Dreamcast. On the shelf with the games are the PSP, DS Lite, and GPX F-200
Now lets go back to the armpit of America, Jersey. Below is a shot of my room at my Mom’s house. Extremely messy, namely because I don’t spend much time there because I’m off at college year round.
Before we go any further I want to make one thing clear. I’m a collector. I collect. I focus on consoles, but I’ve got a number of gems in my collection. All of which I’ll make posts about sometime in the future. But for now, I’ll just show you these.
If you don’t know what the above is, allow me to share. The books are the art books for Shadow of the Colossus and Doshin the Giant. The game is the Game & Watch Collection that I got signed by the ass kicker and name taker himself, Reggie Fils-Aime. I got that signed at the NYC Launch of the Wii. I was number 14 in line out of 2500 people.
) And then there’s the Gameboy Micro 20th Anniversary Ed. And lastly there is the Gold Zelda Ed. of the Gameboy Camera. Only 2,000 of these were made in ‘98 and only offered through the Nintendo Power Store.
Now it’s time to show you the Basement in Jersey. This is everything that I have. This is my baby.
Everything on the couch is what I sell to a silent auction because I’ve got doubles of those. Except for the second Dreamcast I have, that I’m keeping. You can never have too many of those! The arcade I built from scratch with instructions I got online. It took me over a year to complete, but it was so worth it. All I have to do is print out a marquee for it and put the monitor bezel on. I try to keep all the boxes for the consoles and whatnot, but sometimes it doesn’t work out so well. I think for the most part I’ve been consistent about my collecting. I don’t collect for the value, I only collect to have it and say I have it. I have no intention, ever, of selling my things. Hell, I don’t even trade in a single crappy game I’ve ever bought.
So that’s my collection so far. I’ve still got a huge wish list to go through. I recently bought more handhelds, consoles and a controller that isn’t pictured here. I’ll upload those soon enough in another post.
